Sesame Oil
Sesame oil is derived from sesame seeds and is among the oldest oils used by mankind. It is enriched with antioxidants, omega fatty acids, and vitamins and minerals including magnesium, calcium, protein, etc. These nutrients, along with sesame oil’s ability to stimulate the hair follicles and blood circulation have proven to promote hair growth. In addition sesame oil has proven antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, which can treat several hair conditions. Sesame oil is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6 which is significant because omega deficiency leads to hair loss. Sesame oil when rubbed in the scalp improves blood circulation and has antibacterial and antifungal properties thereby keeping these infections at bay by inhibiting the occurrence of dandruff and other hair and scalp issues. Sesame oil has penetrating properties that absorb deep into the hair follicle healing damage caused by harsh heat or sun. Further, its moisturizing properties prevent split ends and brittle hair. Sesame oil’s rich antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and proteins prevent premature greying by preserving melanin function. These same properties hydrate, nourish and condition the scalp as well as the hair. Sesame oil has also proven to provide protection to the scalp and hair by creating a barrier of protection during extended sun exposure. Sesame oil’s soothing properties enable it to as a coolant. Normally the heat and sun can dry out the moisture from the hair and scalp damaging the follicles, but sesame oil’s protective barrier helps retain the moisture.
