Lavender Oil
Lavender oil has many beneficial properties that have been used for centuries and proven to support hair health. A 2016 study published in US Library of Medicine(*14) found that lavender oil grew more hair and thicker hair faster than normal in mice. Per these studies lavender may help with issues like pattern baldness or alopecia. A 2014 review found lavender oil to have antimicrobial and antifungal properties and helped prevent bacteria and fungi from growing. These properties are instrumental in preventing dandruff and other scalp issues. A 2012 study in the Europe PMC (*15) showed that lavender oil used topically on skin inflammations and ulcers, was successful in reducing the inflammation and sped up the healing process. Lavender oil’s health benefits include a 2011 study, which showed it prevented and may even kill head lice. In addition to soothing and calming the skin and skin inflammations, its scent has been shown to have a soothing and calming effect on the mind when inhaled.
